Global Pitch 2024: Call for projects open!

Looking for partners and funding for your next documentary? Submit your project to the Global Pitch by Sunny Side of the Doc and join the international documentary community (6 and 7 February, online). The winner will receive €3,000 and two accreditations for #SSD24 in La Rochelle from June 24th to 27th 2024.

The Global Pitch 2024 call for projects is open till 24th November 2023, 11pm CET.

The world is facing major challenges: migrations, famine, health, education, gender equality, climate change, rising nationalism, etc. To achieve a better and more sustainable future for all, the United Nations has identified 17 sustainable development goals that go far beyond climate issues alone:

Docs for the future: mapping a sustainable world

‘The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice. The 17 Goals are all interconnected, and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve them all by 2030.’ 

Today, only 15 percent of the targets are on track and the international financial architecture is becoming increasingly unfair to developing countries.

What about documentaries? As documentary professionals, our ambition is to open minds, to decipher, to educate, to raise awareness about the major issues facing the world and to be an actor of change. However, we have to admit that the world is changing more slowly than we would like, and too slowly to ensure its own survival!

But we simply can’t give up and we have to keep trying to make a difference.

After focusing on Women's Voices in 2022 and on Climate Change last year, Sunny Side's Global Pitch aims to continue mobilizing the documentary community around the major issues of our time, so that it can help to be a vector for change. Global Pitch 2024 is therefore intended to be about commitment and mobilization as well as analysis. It is the first part of our 2024 focus, which will look at Mapping the Future of our ecosystem and the documentary genre itself during our 35th edition in La Rochelle.
