Our team participated this week in CPH:LAB, CPH:DOX’s talent development programme. CPH:LAB serves as an incubator for documentary projects that seek to explore the potential of digital interactive technologies and advance new visions of what a documentary can be in a digital age. This year, the programme gathered 9 projects coming from all over the world.
On this occasion, our team had the pleasure to present the Sunny Side of the Doc Prize to one of the teams in competition. Follow The Carnation, directed by Lui Avallos and Catarina de Sousa emerged as the winner and will receive two free accreditations and an invitation to take part in the Innovation WIP programme of Sunny Side of the Doc 2024.

Follow The Carnation is an immersive experience (Virtual Reality 6DoF Installation) where democracy's fragility takes center stage. The experience begins in Mixed Reality, intertwining past and present as the user listens to a heartfelt dialogue between an elderly man and his granddaughter about the Carnation Revolution. Following these characters into what appears to be a red spiral labyrinth, the viewer traverses this maze, encountering various historical and contemporary figures who share their stories about democracy in Portugal. Follow The Carnation weaves a vivid tapestry of resistance and resilience, reinterpreting pre- and post-Carnation Revolution archives, reflecting historical and contemporary struggles for justice and equality.
